Team consistency challenge: court patternA and B share the near baseline, C and D the far baseline. Rally cooperatively to include all four; swap left/right after four rallies. Net ABCD

Purpose & setup

Build a cooperative doubles rally with everyone involved.

A+B share the near baseline; C+D share the far baseline. Each covers one half of the doubles court. Keep one ball in play.

How to play

  1. A gently drop-feeds to C. Rally cooperatively after one bounce anywhere inside doubles.
  2. Call the ball and aim towards the player who has had fewer touches. Only one player hits each return.
  3. A net ball, out ball or second bounce ends the rally. Start the next feed with B, then C, then D.
  4. After four rallies swap left/right positions with your partner. End the current rally at time.

Scoring or success

Count consecutive returns together, excluding the feed. Only count a team target of eight when all four players have touched the ball.

Rotation & roles

Feed A → B → C → D across four rallies. Swap left/right after each four-rally group; all four stay active.

Make it easier

Move closer and use a slower, comfortable ball speed.

Add a challenge

Use a smaller target while keeping the same rotation and scoring.

Mixed levels

Use a larger target for the less experienced player and a smaller one for the stronger player.

Safety & spacing

Keep spare balls and equipment outside playing routes. Call shared balls, leave room for swings and retrieve only after the ball is dead. Use a comfortable pace and stop rather than chasing into another player or court.
