Purpose & setup

Make space with gentle placement while partners protect a compact shared court.

A+B stand just behind the near service line, C+D just behind the far service line. The legal court is only the two service boxes at each end, inside singles width. Use one ball and no volleys.

How to play

  1. A drop-feeds gently into an opposite service box. Every return must bounce once before it is hit.
  2. Partners call the ball, protect their separate halves and place returns into either opposite service box.
  3. A volley, second bounce, net ball or first bounce outside the service-box area loses the point.
  4. Alternate the feeder A → C → B → D each point. After eight points swap partners to AC/BD, then AD/BC after eight more; finish the current point at time.

Scoring or success

One point per rally. Eight-point rounds may be drawn 4–4. The compact boundaries and compulsory bounce are custom practice rules.

Rotation & roles

Feed in the listed four-player order and change partnerships after eight points. All four remain involved through calling and coverage.

Make it easier

Begin cooperatively and count six returns before allowing competitive placement.

Add a challenge

Require a return to a different service box from the previous shot before opening the point.

Mixed levels

Allow a second bounce for a named less mobile player as an agreed practice adaptation.

Safety & spacing

Use soft shots, leave room for partners and stop before the net. No hard drives or chasing sharp angles onto another court.
