Purpose & setup

Play short singles rounds with a guaranteed change of opponent.

A and B face each other behind opposite singles baselines. C waits outside the fence or safely off court, keeps score and retrieves only during pauses.

How to play

  1. A drop-feeds to B; play the point inside singles lines, with one bounce allowed.
  2. A miss, out ball or second bounce ends the point. Alternate feeder within the round.
  3. Play exactly four points. Then C replaces A at the near baseline; A becomes the resting scorer.
  4. After the next four points A replaces B at the far end; B rests. Continue the fixed cycle A rests, B rests, C rests. Finish the current point at time.

Scoring or success

One point per rally. Record each four-point round; a 2–2 draw is allowed. Winners do not stay on indefinitely. Custom practice rules.

Rotation & roles

One rests for exactly four points at a time, scoring from a safe off-court place. Cycle A out, B out, C out; enter only with a dead ball.

Make it easier

Move closer and use a slower, comfortable ball speed.

Add a challenge

Use a smaller target while keeping the same rotation and scoring.

Mixed levels

Use a larger target for the less experienced player and a smaller one for the stronger player.

Safety & spacing

Keep spare balls and equipment outside playing routes. Call shared balls, leave room for swings and retrieve only after the ball is dead. Use a comfortable pace and stop rather than chasing into another player or court.

Follow the illustrated instructions. No video has been published for this activity.
