Purpose & setup

Find a comfortable rhythm from the centre to each side and back.

A starts at the centre mark behind the baseline with a racket. No ball is hit. Use the singles sidelines as references.

How to play

  1. Walk from the centre to the right singles sideline, make a controlled shadow forehand and return to the centre.
  2. Repeat to the left with a shadow backhand. Begin slowly; choose a comfortable pace.
  3. Complete four out-and-back movements, then rest for 20 seconds. Repeat within the block.
  4. Finish the current movement when the block time ends.

Scoring or success

Count complete returns to the centre. This is a movement rehearsal, not a race.

Rotation & roles

Solo: alternate right and left. Use the 20-second pause after each four movements; nobody else has a role.

Make it easier

Walk a shorter distance without a racket.

Add a challenge

Add a split step at the centre before each movement.

Mixed levels

Not applicable: solo activity.

Safety & spacing

Keep spare balls and equipment outside playing routes. Call shared balls, leave room for swings and retrieve only after the ball is dead. Use a comfortable pace and stop rather than chasing into another player or court.

Follow the illustrated instructions. No video has been published for this activity.
